Entering the Double Digits

Hey friends! Sorry I’ve been MIA! šŸ™‚ Matt has been busy driving to work on another base and staying there for days at a time. We’re still living in the base rental on the base he trained at, so I’ve been holding down the fort while he’s gone away. šŸ˜‰ We are anxious to move into the new house and get settled into a routine there. I plan to go back to work for a bit, which will help us with income when refinishing the basement there. So, I’ve been looking for work on my spare time. Also, I haveĀ been researching a bit about baby…what to register for, how we’ll set up the nursery, etc… We have names picked out already for baby K – whether it’s a boy OR girl :). We plan to find out the gender and do a gender reveal party of sorts. I DO love a good party šŸ˜€ !

I’mĀ currently on the waitlist for a midwife, which is kind of a bummer, but something we’re still hopeful with and will continue to pray about. I’m 2nd from the top of the list, so fingers crossed!!Ā Also, we are going for our first ultrasound next Tuesday – which we are super excited for! I was supposed to have one June 20th but thankfully, we were able to bump it up. I also need to go for an eye exam because when you have a pituitary tumour, I guess being pregnant can affect your vision. So that appointment will be later in July.

I’ve seen this idea all over and think it’s so cute! Not positive if I’ll keep posting the weekly pictures, butĀ we’ll see howĀ it all pansĀ out šŸ˜‰ . A week late, but here’s my 10 week photo! Double digits, feeling good and nearing the end of my first trimester. I’ll share the ultrasound next week :).

10 weeks

Not too much of a baby bump yet! I think the chalkboard pregnancy tracker is a cute, creative way to chart the milestones during my pregnancy.

How far along –Ā  10 weeks
Total weight gain/loss Lost 2 lbs
Stretch marks None

Favorite moment this week – ReschedulingĀ our first ultrasound (June 20th) to June 2nd! And finding out that military members can get FREE 3D ultrasounds!! šŸ˜€
Miss Anything Not really.
Movement – None yet! Although apparently the embryo is now a fetus and is moving around inside there!

Food cravings – I have been craving carbs, starch, and fruit (mostly strawberries)
Anything making you queasy or sick – I was a bit nauseousĀ in the beginning, having strong food aversions…Ā and feltĀ quite tired! At this point I am happy to say I feel like I’m getting my energy level back.
Have you started to show yet – Slightly! I cant wait to have a bump!!
Gender We think were having a girl (intuition)
Belly Button in or out? –Ā Innie šŸ™‚

Until next time,

Good News!

Happy weekend, guys! I hope things are going well. Other than getting groceries, we just stayed in. Laundry, cleaning, made some soup…reading, baking, rented a movie.Ā Not super busy; productive enough, but low-key.

We received some EXCITING NEWS last week…some GREAT NEWS!! Matt got posted to…our TOP CHOICE! We will be staying IN THE PROVINCE!!! We are so grateful, as this means that we’ll only be about 3 hours away from where we grew up. Just far enough away from the parentsĀ – JUST KIDDING! We love our families ā¤ . Matt is graduating March 20th and afterwards we will be moving. This will be our first military move (we moved ourselves onto the base that we’re on now). I’ve been doing some reading on the relocation service that will be moving us. It helps to know what you’re entitled to, and to know what to expect. We’ll be having our meeting with them the first week of February! So looking forward to this. šŸ˜€

HappySo, yeah! We are so, so happy. It will be ideal to start our family and still be near our extended families. Matt is also really happy to be working at this particular firehall, as it’s brand-spanking new! It’s a multi-million dollar station and the only station in the Canadian Forces that is doing a trial for the 24/hr. shifts. Matt is really looking forward to graduate this Spring. I know that these next couple months are going to FLY by. I am in the midst of planning a firefighter themed grad party! I have the guest list and the food figured out so far… just need to find a location! This year (in April) it’s his “dirty 30” birthday, too (why do people call it that, anyway?). I have a couple of parties to plan! It will be a busy Spring.

Celebrate

I think we will be taking a “house hunting trip” with this relocation service company. We would love to be able to buy again. We have been actively looking, and came across some really charming character homes within our budget. šŸ˜€ We are praying that some of them stay on the market long enough for us to go check out in March!

far better things ahead

That’s all the news for now. Just wanted to check in and keep you all updated! We are so thankful to have received word on Matt’s posting! God is so good!

Good things

Until next time,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year, all! 2015 – Crazy how fast time flies, isn’t it? I hope your celebrations last night rung in the new year with fond memories of the last year and left you hopeful for 2015.Ā We got all bundled up and went to down to Niagara Falls for the concert! It was freeeezing!! WeĀ came back to Matts parents place just in time to watch the ball drop and warm up with some hot chocolate.

2015

I’m sad Christmas is over, but really glad to start a new year. Always feels like a fresh start, doesn’t it? I’m so grateful for all 2014 brought us, but we are REALLY looking forward to 2015 and ready to embrace it! Matt graduates this March and is so stoked to start finally working as a firefighter. We are eagerly awaiting our pending posting… And ready to see what God has Im store for us. There’s also goimg to be some changes on the blog, as I will befollowing more of a schedule. I also am getting more used to some of the “techie” stuff blogging entails. So be on the look out!! šŸ˜€ Have a wonderfully relaxing New Year’s Day.

2014 In Review

Never stop

WordPress.com prepared a 2014 annual report for my blog. Seeing as how onelovelylittlelife just launched in October, I’d say these stats are pretty great!

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,500 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 25 trips to carry that many people.

Click here to see the complete report.

So excited to see where this blog goes in the new year! Thanks for all your interest, encouragement and support!

Giving Thanks

In Canada, Thanksgiving takes place in October, and it’s actually this weekend! We are fortunate to be a short driving distance (approx. 2.5 hrs.) from both sides of our families. We are blessed to be able to stay with Matt’s parents for the duration of the weekend, and we have dinners with our parents and extended families planned! We are also going to be checking out a local arts and crafts show, which I LOVE. The craft show is full of talent from local artisans, and it’s tradition for Matt and I to go together. This year we are also going with my sister and her boyfriend, and my brother and his girlfriend. Should be a great time. It kind of leaves me excited to start traditions with my own family once we are able to start one. Even though we won’t beĀ here, I have decorated our home for the Fall…just because I love this season SO much. šŸ˜‰ We have so much to be thankful for living in North America. It can become too easy to think about what we’re lacking and what we ‘need’. I think often we can confuse our ‘needs’ with our ‘wants’. I know for myself, I need to make a conscious effort to be mindful of what we’re blessed with, and to know that I’m not entitled to anything. With being on this new “journey” with Matt having joined the armed forces this year, we are thankful that we are together. We have our health and our home. With that being said, I want to wish you all a “Happy Thanksgiving!”

I will forever be thankful

How do you decorate for Fall? What are some of your traditions?
